A child-safety expert has warned that many parents may be unaware of the limits of safety standards when buying and maintaining a trampoline for their garden, as families prepare for February half term and more time spent playing outdoors.

Most parents agree on one thing: children need to be outside more. Fresh air, movement and unstructured play are all essential, especially as screens compete for attention indoors. The challenge comes when the equipment designed to encourage outdoor play begins to dominate the garden itself.
